🌍 World Music — Berber
Folk Radio 91.5 FM
Berber or Amazigh music brings together the expressions of the indigenous peoples of North Africa and the Sahara, from the Rif and the Atlas mountains to Tuareg regions. The bendir drum is common to several traditions, but instruments, languages and vocal forms vary widely: Moroccan ahwach and ahidous, Kabyle songs, the Ahellil of Gourara, Chaoui music, or songs accompanied by the imzad among the Tuareg. Oral poetry, collective singing and rhythms linked to festivals, weddings or communal work often play an important role. Contemporary artists today carry these traditions forward through folk, rock, chanson, rap and electronic music in the Amazigh language.
