🌍 World Music — Flemish

Flemish music reflects the Dutch-speaking culture of Belgium without corresponding to a single musical style. It includes popular song or levenslied, kleinkunst — a form of singer-songwriter cabaret-style chanson —, dialect repertoires, as well as a longstanding culture of brass bands, wind orchestras and carillons. Flanders also played a major historical role in Renaissance polyphony and, more recently, in the international revival of early music. Its current scene is especially diverse, spanning pop, rock, hip-hop, chanson, jazz, electronic music and folk, with numerous festivals and a strong presence of radio and community networks.
