Radio Chanove
Hungarian music notably includes the csárdás, a dance frequently alternating a slow and a fast section, as well as the verbunkos, an old dance and military recruitment style. Roma musicians played a major role in urban orchestras, cafés and virtuoso violin and cimbalom repertoires, but this tradition should not be confused with Magyar peasant folklore as a whole. Liszt drew heavily on the music performed by these orchestras, while Bartók and Kodály methodically collected thousands of rural Hungarian songs and songs of neighbouring peoples. Since the 1970s, the táncház, or dance-house, movement has ensured a living transmission of regional music and dances to new generations.
