🌍 World Music — Indonesian
Rádio Genuína
Indonesian music is not limited to gamelan, even though it is one of its best-known traditions. The gamelans of Java, Bali and other islands are distinct ensembles of gongs, metallophones, drums, voices and sometimes string or wind instruments, with different tunings and aesthetics. The archipelago also includes angklung bamboo ensembles, kroncong, Batak, Minangkabau and Papuan traditions, and many forms of musical theatre. Dangdut developed from the 1960s-1970s onward by combining Malay music, Indian cinema, Arabic rhythms, rock and electronic instruments. Regional pop, rock, metal and dangdut remain very widely broadcast throughout the country today.
