🌍 World Music — Israeli
Israeli music developed from traditions brought by populations from Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Ethiopia, Central Asia and other regions. Early collective songs in Hebrew accompanied the settlement movements, the kibbutzim and the building of a national culture, but they represent only part of the musical landscape. Mizrahi music notably combines Arab, Turkish, Greek, Persian and North African influences with modern popular song. Sephardic songs, Yemenite traditions, klezmer, Jewish religious music, Palestinian Arab music and Russian- or Ethiopian-language productions coexist in the country. Pop, rock, rap, electronic music, jazz and participation in Eurovision contribute to its international visibility, without summing up this complex diversity.
