🎻 Ethnic and folk music — Latino

"Latino" music is a very broad commercial and cultural category bringing together music from Latin America, the Caribbean and Latino communities in the United States. It includes salsa, bachata, merengue, reggaeton and cumbia, but also tango, vallenato, ranchera, samba, forró and many other genres. Not all of these musics rely on the same percussion or are necessarily meant for dancing. They result from varying combinations of indigenous, African, European and diasporic heritages. Latin pop, regional Mexican music and urban Latin music are today among its most internationally widespread expressions.
