🌍 World Music — Scandinavian

Scandinavia strictly refers to Denmark, Norway and Sweden; Finland and Iceland belong more broadly to the Nordic countries. Regional traditions include the Norwegian Hardanger fiddle, Swedish polska dances, Danish ballads and various forms of pastoral singing. Sami cultures of the north notably have joik, a vocal tradition distinct from the majority national folklores. Sweden has had a major influence on international pop through its artists, songwriters and producers, while Norway, Sweden and Finland are particularly prominent in several metal genres. Jazz, electronic music, revived folk and independent pop also contribute to the current Nordic musical identity.
