🎻 Ethnic and folk music — Serbian
France Musique Ocora
Serbian music includes epic songs accompanied by the gusle, collective kolo dances, rural music, urban traditions and brass bands. The latter are especially developed in the centre and south of the country and owe much to Roma musicians, though they do not represent all of Serbian folklore. The accordion, frula, violin and tamburica are also important depending on the region. Novokomponovana narodna muzika, and later turbo-folk which emerged in the late 1980s, blended popular melodies, pop, electronic music and media aesthetics. The Guča festival, weddings and alternative scenes today keep several of these traditions highly visible.
